Car hire in Side is almost never about having a car for the whole holiday — it’s about one or two well-chosen days for specific day trips. Side is a classic package resort with a long ribbon of all-inclusive hotels stretching from the centre out to Sorgun, and most guests arrive by transfer, settle in and then hire a car locally for the excursions the coach simply can’t time right.

The geography of Side makes everything easier. The drive from Antalya Airport (AYT) is 75 km of flat, wide D400 — no mountain passes, no hairpins, no tunnels. After Kemer or Marmaris the road feels like a holiday in itself.

The journey from Antalya to Side is 75 km of smooth dual carriageway — usually an hour to an hour and fifteen outside rush hour. The road runs across flat coastal plain with long straights, clear junctions and signs in Latin script. This is the strongest argument for Side if you’re travelling with children or making your first self-drive trip in Turkey after a night flight.
What that means in practice
Even a driver with limited experience on Turkish roads will feel comfortable. MOBESE and EDS cameras are dense on the D400, so stick to 90/120 and avoid risky overtaking. Heading west to Antalya and Belek is the same easy D400, as is heading east towards Alanya.

Do you actually need a car if you’re on all-inclusive?
Depends on your style of holiday. If you’re perfectly happy with the hotel — pool, beach, food, evening shows — and at most one organised excursion, you don’t need a car. Dolmuş minibuses and resort transfers cover everything else. If Aspendos, Old Side, Manavgat and Kaleiçi are on your list, hire a car for one or two targeted days. That’s the smartest and most economical Side formula: package all-inclusive plus a hire car for the day trips you really want.

Il servizio di noleggio auto ha superato le nostre aspettative. L'auto era pulita, in buono stato di funzionamento, spaziosa e confortevole. Abbiamo ricevuto l'auto con consegna in hotel. Ci hanno spiegato dettagliatamente come fare rifornimento e cosa fare in caso di incidente. Anche la restituzione dell'auto è avvenuta senza problemi, il deposito è stato restituito per intero. Abbiamo guidato lungo le serpentine con grande comodità e tranquillità. Li contatteremo di nuovo in occasione della nostra prossima visita.

L'auto è stata consegnata in tempo, tutto è andato bene. L'auto è stata portata senza benzina, ho guidato fino a un distributore, ho fatto il pieno e ho guidato l'auto fino a dove volevamo andare. È chiaro che l'auto è tutt'altro che nuova, è un'auto a noleggio, è tutta graffiata e ci sono dubbi sul suo funzionamento, ha più di 230k chilometri. Il cambio ronza, ulula in cinque. Ma per i soldi che costa, e per la velocità di consegna, è l'opzione migliore se dovete andare da qualche parte nelle vicinanze. Ho viaggiato da un lato all'Ikea, era più economico dell'autobus.

Tutto è andato alla grande! Abbiamo avuto un piccolo malinteso con la consegna dell'auto - è stata portata all'hotel vicino per qualche motivo, ma abbiamo risolto, ci siamo trovati, tutto ci è stato spiegato, abbiamo firmato i documenti e siamo partiti. L'unica cosa che non è stata del tutto conveniente è che l'auto era quasi con il serbatoio vuoto, ma era sufficiente per arrivare al distributore di benzina, quindi va bene:) In macchina non teneva lo specchietto lato guida, ma abbiamo piegato la carta cinque volte, messo tra l'involucro e lo specchietto e tutto è diventato perfetto:) per il resto la macchina funziona al 100%, tutto è piaciuto, quello per cui abbiamo pagato, lo abbiamo ottenuto, e abbiamo pagato molto poco, se si confronta con i concorrenti! C'è stato anche un problema con il fatto che l'auto è venuto a prendere anche non per l'hotel, ma abbiamo ancora una volta con successo trovato l'un l'altro, l'auto è stata controllata e ci siamo separati, tutto è finito bene. Nonostante alcune sfortunate coincidenze sono molto soddisfatto e l'anno prossimo ho intenzione di contattarvi se ci troviamo nella stessa regione! Grazie per il vostro lavoro!

Tutto è andato bene, a parte qualche piccolo ritardo nella consegna e nel ritiro dell'auto. Mi è piaciuto il fatto che l'auto sia stata consegnata immediatamente il giorno successivo al momento dell'ordine.

Side isn’t one single resort — it’s a long coastal strip running from the town centre out to Kızılağaç and Çenger. Delivery cost depends on which part of that strip your hotel is in.
Free delivery zone: centre, Kumköy, Çolaklı, Evrenseki
Central Side, Kumköy, Çolaklı and Evrenseki form the main zone. Hotels such as Side Star, Otium, Barut Hemera, Crystal Tat Beach and Adalya all receive the car at reception at no extra charge.
Paid zone: Sorgun, Titreyengöl, Kızılot, Kızılağaç, Çenger
The eastern sections — Sorgun (premium pine-forest resorts: Voyage Sorgun, Selectum Family, Crystal Family), Titreyengöl by the river, Kızılot, Kızılağaç and Çenger — cost €10–25 because the driver spends 15–25 minutes each way.
