Central Tirana is the second option — handy if you arrive late or want a free first night. Delivery within 5 km of Skanderbeg Square is usually free; further out it's €5–10. The third is Durres, 35 minutes by motorway, for travellers arriving by ferry from Italy.
Returns mirror pickup. Most people drop the car at the airport on the way out — the manager meets you at the same car park, runs a quick check, done. Out-of-hours returns (after 22:00 or before 07:00) cost €10–20 for the personal handover. Leaving keys in a box without a person isn't standard in Albania.
One-way inside Albania (Saranda, Vlora, Gjirokastra) is arranged in advance with a fee of €20–80. International one-way to Podgorica, Dubrovnik or Pristina runs €300–600 with select partners only.

Hyundai i20 in Albania
Il primo giorno vengo contattato da Aldi e mi dicono che la i20 rossa (nella foto) ha un problema all'aria condizionata e che quindi mi daranno una Fiat Panda in sostituzione. La Fiat Panda è in riserva. Prendo la Panda, la rifornisco di 2000 lek e mi dirigo all'hotel. La Fiat Panda in questione non è in grado di percorrere lunghe distanze, quindi rimango in albergo fino al giorno successivo, in attesa di una Yiunday i20 rossa. Va sottolineato che il contatto non era in Albania, ma in Italia, quindi ho dovuto comunicare con persone che non parlavano nemmeno l'inglese. - Il secondo giorno, il personale incaricato da Aldi ha consegnato la i20 rossa al mio hotel e ho subito notato che erano stati montati 4 pneumatici molto usurati, che non sono adatti a un'auto a noleggio. Aldi dall'Italia mi promette che il giorno dopo sarebbe venuto qualcuno a cambiare le gomme. Così per il secondo giorno non riesco a uscire dall'hotel. La sera del secondo giorno noto anche i fari spenti come nella foto A questo punto mi arrabbio molto e chiedo ad Aldi di essere più serio nel servizio perché ho sprecato la mia vacanza in albergo. Il terzo giorno, ancora più grave, sono state sostituite solo le due gomme anteriori. Ho chiamato immediatamente Aldi per avere una spiegazione sul perché il personale in Albania non poteva essere contattato. Gli dico che voglio il rimborso del noleggio, anche se parziale, ma lui si rifiuta, scusandosi per l'inconveniente. Per quanto riguarda i fari dell'auto, oggi è stato sostituito solo l'anabbagliante. In effetti, il quarto giorno ho percorso oltre 500 km senza fari abbaglianti. L'unica cosa corretta che ha fatto il vostro partner di Aldi è stata quella di rimborsarmi i 2000 lek di benzina spesi per la Panda restituita il secondo giorno. Ora chiedo alla vostra società responsabile di Aldi di denunciare l'accaduto al più presto e di ottenere un rimborso, anche parziale. Il servizio non era adeguato in quanto la sicurezza stradale non era garantita. Inoltre, ho pagato l'assicurazione completa per evitare questo inconveniente. Ho pagato 434€ per un servizio non garantito. CHIEDO il rimborso, anche parziale, altrimenti sarò costretto ad adire le vie legali previste dalla normativa vigente.

Day trips and longer routes from Tirana
For a single day: Durres (1 hour, beach and Roman amphitheatre), Berat (1.5 hours, white houses and the castle), Kruja (40 minutes, Skanderbeg's fortress), Bovilla Lake (40 minutes, nature park). For two or three days: Shkodra and its lake, Theth via the Koman ferry, or Berat plus Gjirokastra. For a full week — the classic loop Tirana — Berat — Vlora — Saranda — Gjirokastra. The roads between these points are sealed; any car will get you there.
